Why use trusses?

Trusses simplify roofing, allowing structures to be enclosed much more quickly and providing a more uniform roof appearance. This saves time, money, and possibly avoids weather related delays.

What roof shapes are available?

There is almost no limit to the range of  truss shapes or pitched chord trusses. Floor truss heights can be varied, allowing for a choice of floor plan elevations.

Are trusses cost-effective?

Pre-engineered trusses speed construction. Pilferage and waste due to cutting errors is reduced. Compared to conventional rafter or joist framing, less intensive carpentry labour is required to install trusses, reducing on-site labour costs.

Do trusses offer technical advantages?

Fixed position interior load bearing walls are not necessary under roof trusses, offering interior design flexibility and opportunities for large open areas without compromising structural integrity of the building. In residential building, trusses are typically spaced at 600mm centres as opposed to 450mm centres for traditional framing techniques, to optimise strength and timber resources.

How are trusses designed?

Truss profile, configuration, span and spacing variations are designed by state-of-the-art computer programs, to provide a combination of strength and light-weight to custom fit each customer’s building plan.

How will trusses affect insulation, wiring and pipework?

Trusses can be designed to accommodate more insulation for enhanced energy efficiency. Ceiling and wall materials such as drywall can be nailed directly to the trusses. Attic trusses allow for all pipes, wires, and ventilation ducts to be run inside their web structure.
